Index ETFs don't have their own calculated Value. They hold hundreds of companies — we work out whether the group is expensive or cheap versus its history.

You are 9% below the all-time high, and 255% above the low of the cycle. The signal comes from where you sit in that range.

📊

The floor of the cycle is at $50.77; the ceiling, at $198.73. The closer to the floor, the better the spot to build in slowly.

⚠️

It has no intrinsic value from fundamentals — the range comes from price highs and lows. The final call is yours; buying gradually (DCA) means a little at a time.

The business

A single basket to ride the pulse of U.S. tech, without having to pick company by company.

XLK is a basket that tracks the technology sector within the index of the 500 large U.S. companies. It brings together software, hardware, semiconductor, and tech services companies, weighted by their market size, so the biggest firms carry much more weight than the small ones.

Its advantage as a vehicle is giving you access in a single purchase to dozens of tech companies with a low annual cost and lots of ease to buy and sell, something hard to assemble piece by piece on your own.

Catalysts and risks

Growing structural demand for digital services, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence.

A constant renewal cycle of hardware, chips, and software in businesses and homes.

Money flows that tend to seek out this sector when market sentiment is optimistic.

⚠️

High concentration: a few giant companies can move nearly the whole fund.

⚠️

It's a cyclical sector and very sensitive to interest rates, which can cause sharp drops.

⚠️

Single-theme risk: if tech falls as a whole, there are no other sectors to cushion the blow.

Charlie's note

In a fund like this, sticking to discipline, low cost, and a long horizon matters more than trying to guess the best moment to get in or out.
